It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Congratulations to KONRAD SCHWOERKE, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

I hear that this tavern serves grub,
\nSo I’d rather go find a new pub.
\nThough I’m thoroughly drunk,
\nAnd I’m not a damned punk,
\nEating larvae is something I snub.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Mary JeTrois, Colleen Murphy<\/a>, Brian Allgar, Tim James, and Robert Schechter<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Mary JeTrois:<\/p>\n

At midday I stopped for some grub
\nAt my neighborhood griller and pub.
\nI said, \u201cHow is your meat,
\nSo spicy and sweet?\u201d
\nHe responded, \u201cTherein lies the rub.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Colleen Murphy: <\/p>\n

My father tried making some grub
\nAfter spending all night in the pub,
\nAnd it’s true that some Comet
\nWill cause you to vomit,
\nAs he used it as cheese on his sub.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Brian Allgar: <\/p>\n

I was feeling in need of some grub,
\nSo I strolled to my neighboring pub.
\nBut the food was no good,
\nI was chewing on wood;
\nThe “club sandwich” was made from a club.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tim James:<\/p>\n

A guy, sitting down for some grub,
\nSaid, \u201cIs this thing a hero, or sub?
\nOr a po\u2019 boy? I\u2019ve heard
\nIt\u2019s a \u2018hoagie.\u2019 Strange word.\u201d
\nIt\u2019s a *sandwich*. Just eat it, you schlub.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Robert Schechter:<\/p>\n

To wash down my dinnertime grub
\nI stopped in at a fine Irish pub
\nWhere the Guinness I downed
\nMade a sizzling sound
\nAs I sprayed it out back in the shrub.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
