It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Congratulations to BRIAN ALLGAR, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

The comic made jokes that were lame.
\n\u201cI\u2019ll tell you why Caesar\u2019s my name:
\nI was set in a whirl
\nBy this beautiful girl —
\nI saw her, I conquered, I came.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Tim James, Byron Miller a\/k\/a Errol Nimbly, Jon Gearhart, Brendan Powers<\/a>, Fred Bortz<\/a>, Kirk Miller, and Sue Dulley. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Tim James:<\/p>\n

Mother\u2019s sister is just a bit lame,
\nBut she has quite a powerful frame.
\nShe encountered a mugger
\nAnd laid out the bugger.
\nSince then she\u2019s been called \u201cAuntie Maim.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Byron Miller: <\/p>\n

If while hunting, you leave your prey lame,
\nPlease don’t make it your new claim to fame.
\nIt’s not cool when you brag
\nAbout wounding a stag…
\nUnless aiming to maim is your game.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jon Gearhart: <\/p>\n

Do you want to know what I think’s lame?
\nI’m sick of our Congress’s game.
\nAre political folk
\nIn all countries a joke?
\nI’ll bet Poland has more of the Sejm.<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Brendan Powers:<\/p>\n

My boss, he tells jokes that are lame.
\n\u201cYou\u2019re so funny!\u201d I falsely proclaim.
\nThat\u2019s the way it must go
\nUntil I\u2019m CEO
\nAnd can give him a dose of the same!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Fred Bortz: <\/p>\n

Brigitte’s lingerie isn’t lame,
\nBut that’s what her posts oft proclaim.
\nI declare here today
\nThat she’s hot in lam\u00e9.
\nIt’s the “accent aigu” that’s to blame!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kirk Miller:<\/p>\n

My TV has a setting that\u2019s lame.
\nIt\u2019s a shame they mislabeled the name.
\nI set \u201cbrightness\u201d to \u201cmax\u201d
\nAnd then gave a few whacks,
\nBut intelligence stayed just the same.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tim James:<\/p>\n

A fellow, incredibly lame,
\nCried in rapturous joy when he came:
\n\u201cI love you, Liz, madly!\u201d
\nIt ended quite badly
\n\u2019Cause Elizabeth wasn\u2019t her name.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sue Dulley:<\/p>\n

The earliest lim’ricks were lame:
\n“There once was a man (insert name)
\nWho did (such-and-such,
\nNot amounting to much)…”
\nAnd line 5 as line 1 was the same.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
