It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Congratulations to BRIAN ALLGAR, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

The fellow was robbing their nest
\nOf their eggs, and the hens were distressed.
\nThey were out of their wits,
\nSo they pecked him to bits–
\nHe\u2019d forgotten his pullet-proof vest.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to TIM JAMES, who wins the Special Holiday-Themed Limerick Award for this funny limerick:<\/p>\n

Mad gave us a seven-day stay,
\nA Labor Day verse to assay.
\nI may sound like a jerk,
\nBut that\u2019s way too much work!
\nI\u2019ll bear down when they pass Goof-Off Day.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to COLLEEN MURPHY,<\/a> who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

With my daughters now out of the nest,
\nThere’s an issue that need be addressed:
\nBefore it’s too late
\nI must work with my mate
\nTo rekindle the zest we’ve repressed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Byron Ives, Bill Klein,<\/a> Jon Gearhart, Kathy El-Assal, Randy Mazie,<\/a> and Konrad Schwoerke. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Byron Ives: <\/p>\n

The triplets got kicked from their nest,
\nTwo boys and a girl, dispossessed.
\nThey walked, but she faltered,
\nHer huge boobs, un-haltered.
\nThe brothers then each walked abreast.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bill Klein: <\/p>\n

A woman who’d seen that a nest
\nHad been built ‘twixt her left and right breast,
\nCried “Alas and alack!
\nThere are birds on my rack!”
\nAnd with zest swept the pests from her chest.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jon Gearhart:<\/p>\n

I invited her back to my nest
\nFor Monopoly, purely in jest.
\nBut she jumped at the Chance,
\nThrust her hand down my pants,
\nSo I grabbed her Community Chest.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kathy El-Assal: <\/p>\n

An eagle took flight from his nest.
\n“Catch a fish” was his hunger’s request.
\nAverting bird famine,
\nHe snatched up a salmon
\nAnd ere long that fish he fin-essed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Randy Mazie @ thewritersvillage: <\/p>\n

Our children have all flown the nest.
\nNow my wife and I walk \u2019round undressed,
\nWhich may sound quite benign,
\nBut it isn\u2019t so fine

What’s that syndrome when kids leave the nest,
