We saw <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.59e59.org\/shows\/Secrets.html\">Secrets of the Trade<\/a><\/em>, starring Noah Robbins, Mark Nelson, Amy Aquino, John Glover, and  Bill Brochtrup (whom you may recognize as &#8220;Gay John&#8221; from <em>NYPD Blue<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The play, written by <a href=\"http:\/\/web.mac.com\/jontolins\/Toll_House\/Toll_House_Blog\/Toll_House_Blog.html\">Jonathan Tolins<\/a> and directed by Matt Shakman, centers around Andy Lipman. Who&#8217;s Andy Lipman? He&#8217;s a fictional (and yet somehow familiar) ambitious, Long Island kid who dreams of a career on Broadway and hopes to be helped by Martin Kerner, a theater legend whom he idolizes. I enjoyed it so much, that I felt compelled to review it in verse:<\/p>\n<p>Saw <em>Secrets of the Trade<\/em> last night.<br \/>\nThe play was great to our delight.<br \/>\nWith cast so fine and script superb,<br \/>\nI had to pen this glowing blurb.<\/p>\n<p>The playwright Tolins is new to me.<br \/>\nHe made us giggle gleefully.<br \/>\nAnd Noah Robbins &#8212; he&#8217;s the star.<br \/>\nA mere nineteen and bound to go far.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the cast is just as strong.<br \/>\nI&#8217;d name them, but this poem&#8217;s too long.<br \/>\nSo get yourself to Off-Broadway,<br \/>\nAnd see this fun, outstanding play.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last night hubby Mark and I had a wonderful theater experience.
