It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Congratulations to FRED BORTZ<\/a>, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

Fred Bortz: <\/p>\n

A competitor of the first rank
\nTook his speed-eating prize to the bank.
\nHe never got flustered.
\nWith relish, he mustered
\nThe courage to swallow each frank.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Diane Groothuis, Brian Allgar, Konrad Schwoerke, and Sancho Panza.<\/a> Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Diane Groothuis:<\/p>\n

A lady of very high rank
\nGave her butler a check that was blank,
\nSaying “Spend what you will.
\nThe sex was a thrill,
\nAnd remember to re-fill my tank.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Brian Allgar: <\/p>\n

The General tried to pull rank
\nOn a female cadet in his tank.
\nShe was eager to please
\nAnd went down on her knees,
\nBut the charge in his cannon was blank.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Konrad Schwoerke:<\/p>\n

An artist, whose sketches would rank
\nWith the best, was forthcoming and frank:
\n“It would seem that my muse
\nIs providing no cues,
\nSo right now, I am drawing a blank.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sancho Panza:<\/p>\n

A woman was trying to rank
\nThe men who would lay by her flank,
\nBut she couldn\u2019t decide
\nIf the time of the ride
\nTrumped the length and the width of their shank.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Brian Allgar:<\/p>\n

The Captain, abusing his rank,
\nExclaimed as the ship hit a bank,
\n\u201cForget children and women.
\nThey\u2019ll have to try swimmin\u2019,\u201d
\nThen jumped in the lifeboat … which sank.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
