It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> <\/p>\n

\nTo the line, “And the rocket’s red glare…”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to JANE SHELTON HOFFMAN, who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

A woman was quite unaware
\nThat her spouse had a job at La Bare,
\nTill she went out with friends
\nTo look at rear ends,
\nAnd spotted his sweet derri\u00e8re.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Brian Allgar, Chris Doyle, Konrad Schwoerke, Joel Wasinger<\/a>, Sue Dulley, Robert Schechter, Christopher Finch Reynolds<\/a>, and Tim James. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Brian Allgar:<\/p>\n

The sign on the gate said \u201cBeware
\nOf the Shih Tzu\u201d – too tiny to scare.
\nBut the son of the house
\nHad a Pit Bull, the louse —
\nI was bit by the dog of the heir!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Chris Doyle: <\/p>\n

The hot couple next door to us wear
\nNot a stitch \u2013 mother-naked, buff-bare —
\nLounging out by their pool.
\nHaving neighbors is cool
\nWhen they’re not such a clothes-minded pair.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Konrad Schwoerke:<\/p>\n

My wife disappeared — don’t know where.
\nTo be honest, I really don’t care.
\nI expect them to leave me,
\nSo this doesn’t peeve me.
\nMy dungeon holds many a spare.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Joel Wasinger: <\/p>\n

Her jeans were tr\u00e8s chic “tear and wear,”
\nAnd she’d mindfully messed up her hair.
\nForgive my dissension,
\nBut so much attention
\nFor a look that says, “Meh, I don’t care.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sue Dulley: <\/p>\n

Rocks and mud slide down hills everywhere,
\nAirplanes vanish right out of thin air,
\nAnd now Windows XP
\nMay quite soon cease to be,
\nAnd that really does give me a scare.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Robert Schechter: <\/p>\n

Some say there’s an afterlife where
\nSweet heavenly tunes fill the air.
\nBut they tell me as well
\nThat there’s also a hell
\nWhere the music is Sonny and Cher.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Christopher Finch Reynolds:<\/p>\n

The boastful old man was aware
\nThat the top of his head was quite bare:
\n\u201cIt should be quite plain
\nThat the size of my brain
\nMeans that no room is left for my hair.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tim James:<\/p>\n

My gal disappeared \u2015 don\u2019t know where.
\nI\u2019ve a nugget of wisdom to share:
\nWith your love, set a goal
\nLike the one when you bowl
\nAnd make sure that you pick up a spare.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
