It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Congratulations to Chris Doyle, who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

The Teapers are seizing the wheel
\nOf the GOP van with their zeal.
\nHere’s their plan: do away
\nWith the damn A.C.A.,
\nTurn off welfare, then slay the New Deal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A cave man invented the wheel.
\nHe hoped to get rich off the deal:

When you\u2019re spinning a pottery wheel
\nIt is better to temper your zeal,
\nOr the clay you have thrown
\nWill take shapes of its own
\nWhich are short on artistic appeal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Chris Doyle: <\/p>\n

In the Navy, my hubby’s a wheel–
\nThe elite special forces’ ideal,
\nBut at home he’s a slouch
\nWho just sleeps on the couch,
\nAnd won’t earn his Good Housekeeping Seal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Joel Wasinger: <\/p>\n

A man fell asleep at the wheel
\n‘Cause his wife had just copped a quick feel.
\nThey both thought it was hot
\nBut somehow forgot
\nHe dozed off after sex or a meal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kevin Ahern: <\/p>\n

Painter Dali was quite the big wheel
\nAnd whenever he sat for a meal
\nFor breakfast or lunch
\nHe ate Cap’n Crunch
\nBecause he just loved the surreal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Brian Allgar:<\/p>\n

Will T. Laughlin:<\/p>\n

The Government tends to our weal,
\nYet too many Conservatives feel
\nThat our *weal* is a welt
\nThat deserves to be dealt

Brian Allgar:<\/p>\n

A woman was changing the wheel
\nWhen a fellow appeared, full of zeal.
\n\u201cMay I help you?\u201d he said,
\nBut she bashed in his head
\nAnd made off with his automobile.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
