It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Congratulations to Will T. Laughlin<\/a>, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

She was sick, but was also afraid
\nOf the bill that would have to be paid;
\nSo she dressed as a pet
\nAnd went off to the vet.
\nNow she\u2019s cured \u2014 but she\u2019s also been spayed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Kevin Ahern<\/a>, who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

On the stand was a dentist afraid
\nBecause of some perjury made.
\nBut his lawyer was wise,
\nDescribing the lies
\nAs something that was truth decayed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Chris Doyle, Sallie McKenna, Tim James, Will T. Laughlin<\/a>, Steve Whitred<\/a>, and Diane Groothuis. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Chris Doyle:<\/p>\n

My nerves last Good Friday were frayed
\nAfter learning I’d somehow mislaid
\nMy false teeth, so I feared
\nI’d look pretty damn weird
\nEating lamb on that Easter–pur\u00e9ed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sallie McKenna: <\/p>\n

A clergyman\u2019s collar was frayed,
\nYears of chafing induced as he prayed;
\nHe kept craning his neck,
\nStealthy hopes raised to check
\nAny cleavage in front pews arrayed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tim James:<\/p>\n

A fellow appeared unafraid
\nTo play juggling games with a blade.
\n\u201cI know tricks that can\u2019t miss;
\nHold my beer and watch this!\u201d
\nSay, does anyone here know first aid?\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Will T. Laughlin:<\/p>\n

Said the judge, \u201cThere\u2019s a fine, I\u2019m afraid…\u201d
\nTo the hooker they caught in a raid.
\n\u201cWell, judge,\u201d sighed the whore,
\n\u201cSince I\u2019ve seen you before,
\nI assume that you\u2019ll take it in trade?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Steve Whitred:<\/p>\n

\nA woman whose nerves appeared frayed
\nFrom her friends heard \u201cWe\u2019re getting you laid.\u201d
\nShe said \u201cSounds like a plan,
\nBut please, not with a man.
\nSince that last guy, I may have been gayed!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Diane Groothuis: <\/p>\n

A citrus tree got very frayed
\nAt 42 C in the shade:
\n“I am not in the pink
\nIf I can’t get a drink.
\nPlease get me some cool lemon-aid.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
