You can read the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/lifestyle\/style\/style-invitational-week-1060-caption-some-bob-staake-cartoons-and-the-winning-new-weather-terms\/2014\/02\/13\/843e33e6-929c-11e3-b227-12a45d109e03_story.html\">excellent winning entries here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here are my losing entries:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snow-Brawl:<\/strong> Two arctic storms battle it out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Frizzly:<\/strong>  Just damp enough to frizz your hair.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Withering Heights:<\/strong> Too miserably hot out to leave the house.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Itticane:<\/strong> Gender neutral term for hurricane, favored by most feminists. (Some feminists prefer <strong>Himmicane<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bellweather:<\/strong> Sunny forecast.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rain Cower:<\/strong> Hide from a storm, usually under storefront awnings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a recent Washington Post Style Invitational contest, we were challenged to invent and define weather-related terms.
