It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Congratulations to Will T. Laughlin<\/a>, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

In the time I\u2019ve grown old, I’ve grown round.
\nBut here\u2019s a dilemma I\u2019ve found:
\nThe young people swear
\nThat I\u2019ve also grown *square*.
\nThe geometry doesn\u2019t seem sound!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Jamie Hutchinson, who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this news-related<\/a> limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

The story is getting around
\nAnd it\u2019s bound to offend and dumbfound:
\nThat interpreter guy
\nAt Mandela\u2019s goodbye?
\nA phony! How very unsound!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Mark Kane and Diane Groothuis, who jointly win a special Limerick Repartee Award for this limerick exchange:<\/p>\n

Mark Kane:<\/p>\n

We’re eager to both fool around
\nAt a private discreet picnic ground.
\nSo we lie on a table,
\nAlthough it’s not stable,
\nAnd push past the risks that abound.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Diane Groothuis:<\/p>\n

There’s a problem with fooling around
\nAt that somewhat discreet picnic ground.
\nYou forgot about Tom,
\nThe creep peeping scum
\nWho watches not making a sound.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mark Kane:<\/p>\n

As we rolled onto Tom, round and round,
\nHe then squealed with a very loud sound!
\nHad he stayed out of sight,
\nUntil day changed to night,
\nWe might well have resumed on the ground.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nIt fit with the rest of their sound.

The limerick judge came around,
\nSaw my bribe, and declared I’d be crowned.
\nBut I didn’t ponder
\nHer double entendre
\n‘Til her clop on my kopf did resound.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Rush Limbaugh is running around
\nSpouting nothing but fury and sound.
\nIn view of his \u201ctalents\u201d
\nThe budget would balance

\nAmongst those with a wealthy background.
\nIts symptoms? Not caring,

Sarah Palin? Why\u2019s she still around?
\nShe opens her mouth to expound,
\nAnd the nonsense spills out
\nIn a meaningless rout,
\nLike a car never fully unclowned.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
