It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Congratulations to Ann Martin<\/a>, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

A dad who just planned to relax
\nDidn’t have all the relevant facts;
\nWhen his daughter named Lizzie
\nSaid “Dad, are you busy?”
\nHe said, “No, dear, but why do you ax?”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Kathy El-Assal, who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

Her compliance with rules was so lax,
\nThat Mad gave her lim’rick the ax.
\nWith mission aborted
\nAnd craftiness thwarted,
\nWould syntax require a sin tax?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Craig Dykstra, Chris Doyle, John Lawrence Ramos<\/a>, Sue Dulley, Kevin Ahern<\/a>, Will T. Laughlin<\/a>, and David Lefkovits a\/k\/a Dr. Goose<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Chris Doyle: <\/p>\n

The far right says: “The U.S. is lax,
\nLetting immigrants slip through the cracks.
\nLine the border with moats
\nFilled with crocs big as boats,
\nAnd we’ll stop our Hispanic attacks!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

John Lawrence Ramos: <\/p>\n

The neighborhood children were lax
\nIn sidestepping boulevard cracks;
\nBy the end of the day,
\nWhen they wrapped up their play,
\nThey’d broken twelve mothers’ poor backs.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sue Dulley:<\/p>\n

Once weekly we sit and relax
\nWith a bowlful of buttery snacks.
\nIt is just me and thee
\nWatching Public TV:

\nHer biggest mistake

\nBut the orchestra’s made up of hacks.
\nThey murdered the fragile

The Weight Watchers CFO’s lax
\nIn responding to shareholder FAQs.
\nWhen a fat guy complains
\nOf unwanted gains,
