{"id":228,"date":"2007-11-13T00:52:53","date_gmt":"2007-11-13T04:52:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/humor_blog\/2007\/11\/13\/poetry-prompt-mashup\/"},"modified":"2012-05-02T02:17:25","modified_gmt":"2012-05-02T06:17:25","slug":"poetry-prompt-mashup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/humor_blog\/2007\/11\/13\/poetry-prompt-mashup\/","title":{"rendered":"Poetry Prompt Mashup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Enough with the light limericks for today!\u00a0 Here&#8217;s some heavy (for me) haiku, inspired by a handful of poetry prompts.<\/p>\n<p>First up:\u00a0 It&#8217;s A Blog Eat Blog World serves us <em>gravy<\/em> as inspiration, while Weekend Wordsmith hands us the word <a href=\"http:\/\/weekendwordsmith.blogspot.com\/2007\/11\/hand.html\"><em>hand<\/em><\/a> to run with, and Writers Island provides <a href=\"http:\/\/writersisland.wordpress.com\/2007\/11\/10\/prompt-friendship\/\">the <em>friendship<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em>\u00a0 Put the three together and you get:<\/p>\n<p>A hand in friendship<br \/>\nWould please and gratify me.<br \/>\nLove would be gravy.<\/p>\n<p>Next,\u00a03WW asks us to use the words <a href=\"http:\/\/littlenibbler.blogspot.com\/2007\/11\/3ww-60.html\"><em>compensate, modern<\/em> and <em>radio<\/em><\/a> in poem or prose.\u00a0 My classical music background probably had something to do with this haiku using that trio of words:<\/p>\n<p>Modern radio<br \/>\nFails to compensate for our<br \/>\nDying symphonies.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Haiku Sunday requests haiku about <em>belonging<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>All my belongings&#8212;<br \/>\nThe ones the thieves didn&#8217;t steal&#8212;<br \/>\nScattered and estranged.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Enough with the light limericks for today!\u00a0 Here&#8217;s some heavy (for me) haiku, inspired by a handful of poetry prompts.
