What else is there? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ehow.com\/how_2329699_celebrate-limerick-day.html\">International Limerick Day<\/a>, of course, which celebrates the May 12th birthday of Edward Lear. After all, nobody&#8217;s done more than <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nonsenselit.org\/Lear\/\">Edward Lear<\/a> to popularize the limerick.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve written <strike> a limerick<\/strike> two limericks to celebrate Lear and National Limerick Day, and I hope you&#8217;ll write one too:<\/p>\n<p>Limerick Ode To Edward Lear<br \/>\nBy Madeleine Begun Kane<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s Limerick Day &#8212; did you hear &#8212;<br \/>\nOn May 12th  for the birth of Ed Lear.<br \/>\nIn his honor that day<br \/>\nRhyme A-A-B-B-A.<br \/>\nAnd thank him for spreading good cheer.<\/p>\n<p><b>Update:<\/b> I&#8217;ve written Edward Lear a 2nd limerick:<\/p>\n<p>Edward Lear was a poet quite witty,<br \/>\nWho wrote verse rather brief, even bitty.<br \/>\nHis birthday&#8217;s 12 May,<br \/>\nSo we treasure that day<br \/>\nIn thanks for the limerick ditty.<\/p>\n<p>(Note: I&#8217;m also celebrating National Limerick Day on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/madkane?v=wall&#038;story_fbid=120529204638238\">Facebook<\/a> too.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mother&#8217;s Day isn&#8217;t this week&#8217;s only important holiday.
