And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same first line. Then you post your limerick here and, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/madkane\/posts\/10151747860009315\">if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The best submission will be crowned Limerick Of The Week. (Here\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/humor_blog\/2013\/10\/06\/limerick-of-the-week-134\/\">last week\u2019s Limerick Of The Week Winner<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here&#8217;s my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/humor_blog\/how-to-write-a-limerick\/\"><em>How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll announce the Limerick of the Week Winner next Sunday, right before I post next week\u2019s Limerick-Off. So that gives you a full week to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n<p>I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing a limerick with this first line:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A woman encountered a snake&#8230;<strong>*<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>*<\/strong>(Please note that minor variations to my first lines are acceptable. However, rhyme words may <strong>not<\/strong> be altered, except by using homonyms or homophones.)<\/p>\n<p>Here are my two limericks:<\/p>\n<p>Snake Limericks<br \/>\nBy Madeleine Begun Kane<\/p>\n<p>A woman encountered a snake<br \/>\nAnd wondered just what it would take<br \/>\nTo catch it and kill it,<br \/>\nThen drizzle and grill it,<br \/>\nOr maybe add pastry and bake.<\/p>\n<p>and<\/p>\n<p>A woman encountered a snake&#8211;<br \/>\nNot a reptile &#8212; a man on the make.<br \/>\nIn response to his hype,<br \/>\nShe said, &#8220;I know your type.<br \/>\nYour style is <em>I give and you take<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Please feel free to write your own limerick using the same first line and post it in my comments.
