Here\u2019s the limerick I wrote with that line. (It\u2019s a three-verser, but a standard one-verse limerick is fine, of course.)<\/p>\n
Operatic Limerick
\nBy Madeleine Begun Kane<\/p>\nAn eccentric soprano named Brett
\nAuditioned to sing at the Met.
\nHer Lucia was bad,
\nSo the maestro got mad
\nAnd attempted to throw her off set.<\/p>\nShe screamed, “You do not<\/strong> know the score.
\nI was meant to perform Lammermoor<\/a>.
\nThe problem’s your flute,
\nAnd my voice is a beaut!
\nYour reviewers will call me top drawer.”<\/p>\n“You shall never perform on this stage,”
\nThe conductor replied, red with rage.
\n“Your coloratura
\nIs missing bravura.
