It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Congratulations to Bill Klein<\/a>, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

A fellow would frequently play
\nThe field, to his girlfriend’s dismay.
\nSo she got him a date
\nWith a transvestite mate,
\nAnd thus made him a queen, for a day.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Fred Bortz<\/a>, who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

To do the Lord’s work while they play,
\nThe ministers gardened all day.
\nIt was hard to decide
\nOn the right pesticide,
\n‘Til they found the one called Lettuce Spray.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Jane Shelton Hoffman, Kevin Ahern<\/a>, David Lefkovits a\/k\/a Dr. Goose<\/a>, Craig Dykstra, Alan Hochbaum, and Will T. Laughlin<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

A bay horse suspected foul play
\nWhen someone kept eating his hay.
\nIt could be the bull,
\nWho always looked full,
\nCause when asked, other horses said, “Neigh!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kevin Ahern: <\/p>\n

Some people at golf when they play
\nThink cheating on scores is OK.
\nThese devious folks,
\nReducing their strokes,
\nSee NO need to play the fairway.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

David Lefkovits: <\/p>\n

A fellow who wanted to play
\nWith a woman who lived down the way
\nWas wasting his time,
\nFor she said to him: “I’m
\nAn actual Gay Divorc\u00e9e.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Craig Dykstra: <\/p>\n

Janet Jackson got hired to play.
\nJustin Timberlake joined her that day.
\nBut then with a rip
\nCame the slip of a nip \u2013
\nNow the Super Bowl’s shown on delay.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Alan Hochbaum: <\/p>\n

A woman suspected foul play
\nIn the death of her donkey Don K.
\nAt the funeral service
\nHer pastor, most nervous
\nSaid “Everyone bow heads and bray.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Will T. Laughlin: <\/p>\n

Some farmers are charged with fowl play:
\nThey strangled their hens, so they say.
\nAnd why in the dickens
\nWould men choke their chickens?
\nThey just couldn\u2019t get a good lay.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

David Lefkovits: <\/p>\n

An athlete who wanted to play
\nMet a girl who would lead him astray.
\nSaid he to the ho:
\n“Yes I’d like to go pro,
\nBut I really just meant NBA.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
