It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Congratulations to Tim James, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

A woman quite often arose
\nIn wrath at her sisters and bros.
\nThey arranged her blind dates
\nWith prospective soul mates.
\nSo her life was all butt-ins and beaux.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Fred Bortz<\/a>, who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

From “The Vacuum,” The Cosmos arose,
\nAs every good physicist knows.
\nI’d explain in this verse,
\nBut the form is too terse.
\nThe Big Bang requires Big Prose.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Johanna Richmond, who wins a special Limerick Saga Award, occasionally given to a clever multi-verse limerick.<\/p>\n

Magnificently, he arose,
\nHe’s a Greek god right down to his toes…
\nHis serpent allures;
\nTo say he endures
\nIs to liken the phoenix to crows. <\/p>\n

I look up — in his teeth there\u2019s a rose;
\nWhat he holds in his hand damn near glows;
\nLet me die by this stake…
\nCrap, that\u2019s Ralph: “You awake?
\nI don\u2019t know where this old flashlight goes.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Sue Dulley, Jane Shelton Hoffman, J Cosmo Newbery<\/a>, Steve Whitred<\/a>, Scott Crowder, and Will T. Laughlin<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Sue Dulley: <\/p>\n

With fabric, a pale shade of rose,
\nShe made up some curtains and throws.
\nThey didn’t look smart
\nSo she took them apart–
\nIt’s sad when she rips what she sews.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jane Shelton Hoffman: <\/p>\n

A fellow who frequently rows
\nNever tells his wife just where he goes.
\nAnd her brother’s wife, Sue,
\nOften disappears too.
\nA family affair we suppose.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

J Cosmo Newbery:<\/p>\n

A woman was holding a rose
\nAnd the prize that it won in the shows.
\nAnd no-one suspected
\nHer win was connected
\nWith the spot where she buried her beaux.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Steve Whitred: <\/p>\n

His first tattoo says \u201cI Love Rose.\u201d
\nBut another says \u201cBros before Hoes.\u201d
\nSo, his new girl, Inez
\nWears a T-shirt that says,
\n\u201cI\u2019m with stupid\u201d, wherever she goes.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Scott Crowder: <\/p>\n

A woman was poked by a rose
\nAnd sent into orgasmic throes.
\nIf one little prick,
\nCan do such a trick,
\nThere\u2019s hope for me too, I suppose.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Will T. Laughlin: <\/p>\n

Rose planted her roses in rows,
\nHer garden to fully enclose.
\nRose\u2019s rosy rows rose,
\nAnd now nobody knows
\nWhen she goes through the rows with her beaux.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
