It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Congratulations to Johanna Richmond, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

Peter dates an old lady who trips
\nWhen she hears Gladys Knight and the Pips;
\nAnd knowing he’s scored
\nWhen she shouts “All aboard!”
\nPeter prays that her Poligrip grips. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Steve Whitred<\/a>, who win the Special Mother’s Day-Themed Limerick Award for this funny limerick:<\/p>\n

\nOn Mom\u2019s Day she\u2019ll act mild and meek,
\nBut I know that before I can speak
\nShe\u2019ll say \u201cThanks for the call.\u201d
\nThen she\u2019ll make me feel small
\nWith \u201cYour brother phones two times a week.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Mike Moulton, who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

A hippie who took lots of trips
\nWith reality came not to grips,
\nAs the acid he tried
\nLeft his brain nearly fried
\nAnd subject to memory slips.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Steve Whitred<\/a>, who wins a special Limerick Puzzle Award, occasionally given to a very clever puzzle in limerick form:<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a puzzle for taking on trips:
\nAt a fork, the path rises or dips.
\nPick the one you should take
\nTo arrive at the lake.
\nIn verse two I\u2019ll supply you with tips.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s two guides, but be careful, one trips.
\nOnly lies ever come from her lips.
\nTh\u2019 other guide in the booth
\nAlways tells you the truth.
\nWhich is which? You don\u2019t know, and that rips.<\/p>\n

But with guilt, on me, don\u2019t lay your trips.
\nBoth guides know which path\u2019s right and which gyps.
\nSince these girls are both sibs,
\nThey know which of them fibs
\nAnd which sis tells the truth in her quips.<\/p>\n

To arrive at the lake on these trips,
\nIt\u2019s now time that we all come to grips.
\nWhat\u2019s the question to pose
\nTo one guide, so it shows
\nDown which path to be pointing your hips?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A writer would take frequent trips
\nTo research how each country strips.
\n“Geisha girls drop their fans.
\nFrench nudes do can-cans.

A comet makes regular trips
\nRound its orbit, a long thin ellipse.
\nWhat to do on the day
\nOur earth gets in its way?
\nWe’ll need some apocalypse tips.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
