It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Congratulations to Les a\/k\/a Colonialist<\/a>, who wins Limerick of the Week for this clever verse:<\/p>\n

An artist who often made scenes
\nWould paint them on flimsiest screens.
\nWhen backdrops were rent,
\nCast would then, through the vent,
\nCast aspersions while venting their spleens.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Colleen Murphy<\/a>, who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

An artist was drawing some scenes
\nOf the countryside down in Orleans.
\nAs he sketched and he drew
\nHe kept sipping some brew,
\nWhich explains why his last subject leans.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to David Lefkovits a\/k\/a Dr. Goose<\/a>, who wins a special Limerick Quiz Award, for creating a fun Limerick Movie Quiz out of his series of limericks. (You can find the answers to David’s quiz right after the list of Honorable Mention winning limericks, upside down … just to keep everybody honest.)<\/p>\n

\nThis week, when the keyword is \u201cscenes\u201d,
\nI wanted to break from routines.
\nEach verse I will use
\nTo throw out some clues;
\nTry guessing what each of them means!<\/p>\n

This silent is loaded with scenes
\nOf man in the thrall of machines,
\nAnd the mystical muse
\nWho changes the views
\nOf a rebel who\u2019s born of great means.<\/p>\n

This actor was noted for scenes
\nOf angst-ridden young men and teens.
\nIf he had lived long,
\nHe might have gone on
\nTo become one of Hollywood\u2019s deans.<\/p>\n

In this mob movie\u2019s earliest scenes
\nThe specter of lust intervenes
\nWith a gangster whose shlong
\nIs a few inches long;
\nIn fact, it may be in the teens.<\/p>\n

One of the funniest scenes
\nTo blaze across Hollywood screens
\nEnds up with a din
\nLike trumpets and wind
\nAnd begins with a pot full of beans.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a musical noted for scenes
\nOf dancing by killer chorines,
\nWho know of a spot
\nWhere the music is hot,
\nAnd the lyrics are not for preteens.<\/p>\n

In this movie, two ladies have scenes
\nMaking one of the world\u2019s great cuisines,
\nBut the younger one\u2019s thrown
\nBy Beef Bourguignon,
\nAnd breaks down amid her tureens.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

An Irishman likes to make scenes
\nWhile wooing the village colleens.
\nBut the girls understand
\nThat his gestures so grand
\nMean there\u2019s nothing at all in his jeans.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Steve Whitred: <\/p>\n

In Bogey films there are some scenes
\nWhere his shortness of height intervenes,
\nLike the time when he quipped,
\n“Ingrid let\u2019s change the script
\nTo a \u2018hill\u2019, from a \u2018mountain\u2019 of beans.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bob Dvorak: <\/p>\n

A fellow who often made scenes
\nIn the buff, to be seen on big screens,
\nCan’t act. When a guy
\nOut of work asked him why,
\nHe retorted, “It’s all in the genes.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ira Bloom: <\/p>\n

A fellow who often makes scenes,
\nAs he drinks, stumbles, trips and careens,
\nWith few inhibitions,
\nMakes rude propositions.
\nA good thing his wife intervenes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sue Dulley: <\/p>\n

A youth leader takes in some scenes
\nWith “her girls”, a small group of young teens.
\nShe’s known to have stated,
\n“No, they’re not related,
\nAlthough they all have the same jeans”.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
