It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off. <\/a><\/p>\n

Congratulations to Edmund Conti, who wins Limerick of the Week for this clever verse:<\/p>\n

A woman once tried to take flight
\nFrom a randy Bohemian knight.
\nBut the Czech in the mail
\nWouldn\u2019t verge from the trail
\nAnd his lance at a glance was upright.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Craig Dykstra, who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

A Kitty Hawk gal dreamed of flight,
\nHow she wished she could soar like a kite.
\nThen she met Orville\u2019s brother
\nAnd soon would discover
\nShe\u2019d finally met Mr. Wright.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Josie Two Shoes<\/a>, Tim James, Steve Whitred<\/a>, Kevin Ahern<\/a>, Jane Shelton Hoffman, and Jim Gallagher<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Josie Two Shoes: <\/p>\n

A fellow whose mind oft\u2019 took flight
\nFound himself in a bit of a plight.
\nHe arrived at the dance,
\nBut forgot to wear pants.
\nHis dance card was full the whole night.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tim James: <\/p>\n

A woman was taking a flight
\nIn a sports car, at ninety, one night.
\nAs her ticket was written,
\nShe watched the cop, smitten,
\nA clear case of love at first cite.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Steve Whitred:<\/p>\n

\nHosts of angels, wings beating in flight
\nHeld celestial bodies just right.
\nPhysics pulled back that curtain,
\nBut I\u2019m still uncertain
\nHow \u2018quantums\u2019 can shed any light.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kevin Ahern:<\/p>\n

The lass in the back of the flight
\nKind of liked flying into the night
\nCuz her boyfriend beside her
\nNo light would provide her.
\nOn a date darkness is a de-light.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jane Shelton Hoffman: <\/p>\n

A vampire was planning his flight
\nAnd whom he would visit to bite.
\nHe thought of a Czech
\nWho had a fat neck.
\n“But perhaps some Italian tonight?”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jim Gallagher: <\/p>\n

With an S on his chest he takes flight
\nIn the battle of wrong versus right.
\nBut when mano a mano
\nThe man sings soprano,
\nHis fetching red briefs are too tight.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
