It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Congratulations to David McCormick a\/k\/a AdamantYves,<\/a> who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

A fellow who needed a Doc
\nFor his hiccups was nursed round the clock;
\nBut they didn\u2019t stop till
\nDoc presented his bill
\nSaying, \u201cNothing works quite like a shock!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to David Lefkovits a\/k\/a Dr. Goose,<\/a> who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

A fellow who needed a doc
\nDisplayed palpitations & shock.
\nSaid the doctor: \u201cI fear
\nThat the fiscal cliff\u2019s near,
\nAnd you really need H&R Block.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Elaine Spall,<\/a> Ira Bloom, Craig Dykstra, Diane Groothuis, Colleen Murphy,<\/a> and Bob Dvorak. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Elaine Spall: <\/p>\n

A fellow in need of a doc
\nIn emergency suffering from shock
\nMocked his wife’s Asian cooking:
\nWhen he wasn’t looking
\nShe struck his head hard with her wok.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ira Bloom:<\/p>\n

A fellow was rushed to the doc,
\nAfter getting shot up with a Glock.
\nThe surgeon, quite nice,
\nGave the guy sage advice:
\n“Wives in swimsuits are best not to mock.”\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Craig Dykstra:<\/p>\n

On the nights I tend bar at \u201cThe Dock\u201d
\nDoctor Hickory\u2019s there, ten o\u2019clock.
\nLikes his daqu\u2019ris \u201chis way\u201d
\nSo I make one, then say:
\n\u201cHere\u2019s your Hickory Daquiri, Doc.\u201d\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Diane Groothuis:<\/p>\n

A lady who needed a Doc
\nHad her foot bitten off by a croc.
\nSaid \u201cMy dip in the sea
\nMade it cheaper for me:
\nI\u2019ll only need one shoe and sock\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Colleen Murphy: <\/p>\n

A two-year old went to the doc:
\nWhen his brother was playing with caulk
\nHe tried to seal shut
\nThe crack in his butt
\nCreating a structural block.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And a 2-verse limerick from Bob Dvorak:<\/p>\n

A fellow who needed a doc
\nFor his sales pitch next day, to the flock,
\nTold his flunky \u201cGet writing,
\nAnd make it exciting.
\nWith Powerpoint. Seven o\u2019clock.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the flunky said, \u201cThis is a crock.
\nIf he thinks I can work to his clock.\u201d
\nTiny type, midst the muck,
\nRead, \u201cThe Prez is a schmuck.\u201d
\nAnd that guy is now working the dock.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
