It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Congratulations to David Franks, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

A man was disturbed by a line
\nOn a mirror– cocaine, ground up fine.
\n“It’s Satan’s own powder.”
\nHis tirade grew louder:
\n“It’s nothing to sniff at, you swine!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Colleen Murphy<\/a>, who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

I find I’m disturbed by the line,
\n“Your troubles are yours and not mine.”
\nFor the truth is that if
\nWe do fall off the \u201ccliff,\u201d
\nOur problems will all intertwine.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Jamie Hutchinson, Jim Sullivan, Craig Dykstra, Kathy El-Assal, Robert Schechter, David McCormick a\/k\/a AdamantYves<\/a>, and Tim James. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

His moves breached her Maginot Line
\nAs he bid her, \u201cSurrender, you\u2019re mine.\u201d
\nBut her forces regrouped
\nAnd advanced as she whooped:
\n\u201cThe Allies are crossing the Rhine!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jim Sullivan: <\/p>\n

A fish had encountered a line.
\nIt seemed to the creature a sign
\nThat was sent from Above.
\n\u201cThis worm? From God\u2019s love!
\nI must seize, not deny, the Divine!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Craig Dykstra:<\/p>\n

The villainess hired from a line
\nEvil henchmen until she had nine.
\nWhen she reached number ten
\nSent him back home again
\nSaying \u201cYou sir, are no fiend of mine.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kathy El-Assal: <\/p>\n

Some socialites cross the fine line
\nAnd trip on a media mine.
\nThey explode on the scene
\nWhen pundits prove mean
\nAnd their climbing days hit a decline.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Robert Schechter: <\/p>\n

A man was disturbed by a line
\nThat he read by the famed Gertrude Stein.
\n“A rose is a rose
\nIs a rose? Heaven knows,
\nTo say it just twice would be fine!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

David McCormick:<\/p>\n

Burns\u2019 old teacher, disturbed by a line
\nShe\u2019d read in his verse, \u2018Auld Lang Syne\u2019
\nSighed, \u201cIsn\u2019t it rotten?
\n\u2018Forgot\u2019 for \u2018forgotten\u2019!
