It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a><\/p>\n

Congratulations to Chris Doyle, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

A man who was very refined
\nServed Chianti to guests as they dined.
\n\u201cIf our friendship gets strained,\u201d
\nMr. Lector explained,
\n\u201cYou may give me a piece of your mind.\u201d\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Jamie Hutchinson, who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

The duchess was not so refined
\nAs to say that she’d terribly mind
\nIf her manservant came
\nIn the front door\u2014no shame\u2014
\nWhile the duke himself entered behind.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Tim James, Bob Dvorak, Craig Dykstra, Chris Doyle, Colleen Murphy<\/a>, and Patience (of Patience and the Prodigal.)<\/a> Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Tim James:<\/p>\n

A guy who was not too refined
\nTook a friend out to hunt and unwind.
\nHe took aim at a deer,
\nCapped his friend in the rear.
\n(He shot the wrong version of hind.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bob Dvorak:<\/p>\n

A gal who was very refined
\nTook her pal up the hill, where she pined,
\n\u201cI\u2019ve no notions of guilt;
\nDo with me what thou wilt.
\nFrom this angle I\u2019m highly inclined.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Craig Dykstra:<\/p>\n

A teacher was not too refined
\nAnd had quite a lascivious mind.
\nHe used to be trusted
\nBut finally got busted
\nFor feeling a little behind.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Chris Doyle:<\/p>\n

A woman who\u2019s very refined
\nIs inclined to be less so when wined.
\nWith sufficient Chablis,
\nShe might even agree
\nTo a Gypsy Rose Lee bump and grind.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Colleen Murphy: <\/p>\n

A woman, both rich and refined,
\nToward those with less fortune was blind.
\nBut Karma made sure
\nIn time she’d grow poor,
\nSo others could pay her no mind.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Patience: (of Patience and the Prodigal)<\/p>\n

A gal who was very refined
\nRefused to break wind when she dined.
\nThe gas overloaded,
\nAnd then she exploded.
\nHer manners were all they could find!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
