It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off. <\/a> <\/p>\n

Congratulations to Phyllis Sterling Smith a\/k\/a Granny Smith<\/a>, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

A gal was involved in a feud
\nWith a horsey guy, one who had wooed
\nHer to be his new bride.
\nShe had snorted, replied
\n“I would rather be bridled and shoed!”\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Jane Shelton Hoffman, who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

An actress was ready to feud.
\nHer play had been badly reviewed.
\nSo she added a song.
\nIt was detailed and long,
\nGiving names of the critics she’d screwed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Jamie Hutchinson, Don Fitzpatrick, and Johanna Richmond. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Jamie Hutchinson:<\/p>\n

Two neighbors fell into a feud
\nWhen up came a bubblin\u2019 crude
\nOn the property line.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s all mine!\u201d\u2014\u201dNo, it\u2019s mine!\u201d
\nAsk Iraq and Kuwait what ensued.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Don Fitzpatrick:<\/p>\n

A man was involved in a feud
\nWith his neighbours who said he was lewd
\nFor displaying they say
\nA hard-on each day,
\nWhilst parading around in the nude.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Johanna Richmond:<\/p>\n

Mitt Romney\u2019s concerned that our feud
\nWith Russia\u2019s been far too subdued.
\n(When lost in the thicket,
\nNostalgia\u2019s the ticket.)
\nThe cold war is history, dude!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
