It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Congratulations to Jane Shelton Hoffman who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

A parrot was proud of his skill.
\nHe could learn any words you would drill.
\nBut a problem occurred
\nWhen the man heard the bird
\nSay, “Come over when he’s at the mill.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations to Robert Basler<\/a> who wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

A fellow was proud of his skill
\nAt signing his name with a quill.
\nSaid his friend, Paul Revere,
\n“Put your John Hancock here!
\n“Make it large, we’ve got pages to fill!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) VerseBender<\/a>, Edmund Conti, Bryan Coughlan, and Johanna Richmond. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Versebender:<\/p>\n

A fellow was proud of his skill
\nMaking moonshine inside of his still.
\nBut his profits were few
\nIn spite of his brew
\n\u2018Cause he\u2019d swill every drop he\u2019d distill.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Edmund Conti: <\/p>\n

A fellow was proud of his skill
\nAt giving his good wife a thrill.
\nSaid she of his mountin\u2019,
\n“I fear that your Fountain
\nOf Youth has gone over the hill.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bryan Coughlan: <\/p>\n

A lawyer was proud of his skill,
\nCharged one pound of flesh for his bill.
\nThat’s not just a saying.
\nHis clients were paying.
\nSo where there’s a weigh, there’s a will.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Johanna Richmond:<\/p>\n

A fellow was proud of his skill
\nWith the help of a little blue pill,
\nTill his paramour mumbled
\nA mouthful that humbled:
\n\u201cIt fills but the thrills, Will, are nil.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
