In Honor Of World Animal Day<\/a>, celebrated annually on October 4th, here are three endangered species limericks: Limerick Odes to the Tasmanian Forester Roo, the Hippopotamus, and the African Wild Ass. The Tasmanian Forester Roo
\nIs endangered. So here’s what to do:
\nSign petitions. Give cash.
\nHost a fund-raising bash,
\nElse its time on this earth will be through.<\/p>\n

When I look at a hippo I wonder:
\nWhat’s the size of its herbivore plunder?
\nAt three point five tons,
\nIt clearly outguns
\nAny crops as it tears them asunder.<\/p>\n

The African Wild Ass, alas,
\nIs at risk. It may soon come to pass
\nThat the last one dies out.
\nIt’s endangered, no doubt.
\nThis horse-cousin may vanish en masse.<\/p>\n
