It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Congratulations to Craig Dyskstra who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

Met a blonde in a bar with a tan;
\nAs we danced, she purred \u201cI\u2019m Maryanne.\u201d
\nBut the bar\u2019s in Key West
\nSo the rest you\u2019ll have guessed:
\nThat my tan Maryanne was a man.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And further congratulations go to Craig Dykstra who also wins this week’s Facebook Friends’ Choice Award, but for a different limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

My freckle-faced girl can\u2019t get tan,
\nSo she sits in the shade with a fan.
\nShe finally learned
\nThat she\u2019d only get burned.
\nShe\u2019s a ginger, she\u2019s not Mary Ann.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Elaine Spall<\/a>, John Peter Larkin, Linda Fuller, Jane Shelton Hoffman, Robert Schechter, and Patrick McKeon. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

A guy with a very deep tan
\nCaught his tie on a new celing fan.
\nSuch a costly mistake:
\n‘Cause his colour was fake
\nHe spray painted the walls as he span.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

John Peter Larkin:<\/p>\n

A guy with a very deep tan
\nTried out to be Marlboro\u2019s man.
\nBut, because of his cough,
\nHis name was crossed off,
\nAnd that was the end of his plan.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Linda Fuller:<\/p>\n

A gal with a very deep tan
\nAte nothing but oatmeal and bran.
\nShe tie-died her clothing
\nAnd felt a strong loathing
\nFor food that came out of a can.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jane Shelton Hoffman: <\/p>\n

A guy with a very dark tan
\nHad left his four wives in Iran.
\nTo be very specific,
\nThey’d been too prolific
\nAnd he couldn’t afford a big van.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Robert Schechter: <\/p>\n

A gal with a very deep tan
\nEncountered a dirty old man,
\nSo brash and obscene he
\nAsked, “‘Does your bikini
\nHide bronze, or a lily white can?”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Patrick McKeon:<\/p>\n

A gal with a very deep tan
\nHad a different last testament plan.
\nSince her skin just like leather
\nWould hold out all weather,
\nIt was left to a tent making man.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
