It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Congratulations to Nan Reiner a\/k\/a Kitty Ditty who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

A fellow who looked like a hick
\nWas a-ponderin’ Newt, Mitt, and Rick:
\n“Which-a these millionaires
\nCan pretend that he cares
\nAbout me? That’s the slicker I’ll pick.” <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Today I’m introducing a new and experimental award category: Congratulations to Mark Kane who wins the Facebook Friends’ Choice Award for this limerick which received the most Facebook “likes.”<\/p>\n

A fellow who looked like a hick,
\nWas making his play with some chick.
\nHe said “Babe don’t be nervous,
\nI’m here for your service,
\nAnd I promise I’ll never be quick.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Neal Pattison, David Lefkovits a\/k\/a Dr. Goose<\/a>, Linda Evans Hofke<\/a>, Ira Bloom, and Johanna Richmond. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Neal Pattison: <\/p>\n

A fellow who looked like a hick
\nBuilt a privy of mortar and brick.
\nWhen he bragged to his kin,
\n6 or 7 moved in.
\nNow they do 1 and 2 in the crick.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

David Lefkovits a\/k\/a Dr. Goose:<\/p>\n

A fellow who looked like a hick
\nWas adept with the carrot and stick;
\n\u201cOn the hill in DC
\nWas the college,\u201d said he,
\n\u201cWhere I learned this political trick.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Linda Evans Hofke:<\/p>\n

A fellow who looked like a hick
\nMet up with a rich city chick.
\nHe thought “No Chance In Hell”
\nWith this mademoiselle,
\nBut it turned out that opposites click.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ira Bloom:<\/p>\n

A fellow who looked like a hick,
\nWas defamed in an internet trick,
\nWith no shred of decorum.
\n(Just google \u201csantorum,\u201d
\nTo see what they said about Rick!)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Johanna Richmond: <\/p>\n

Santorum says (aping a hick):
\nEducation is merely a trick
\nTo indoctrinate all;
\nWhat he means is “The gall
\nOf you joining our one percent clique!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
