It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> I’m very pleased to announce the winning Limerick of the Week and the Honorable Mentions:<\/p>\n

Congratulations to JIM DELANEY who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

The chairman was trying to lead
\nAn attack upon corporate greed,
\nBut his own compensation
\nWould fund a small nation \u2014
\nNot quite the credentials you need.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Neal Pattison, Bruce Niedt<\/a>, Edmund Conti, David Lefkovits a\/k\/a Dr. Goose<\/a>, and Phyllis Sterling Smith a\/k\/a Granny Smith<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Neal Pattison: <\/p>\n

A fellow was trying to lead
\nA life filled with daring and deed.
\nTo his friends, who all hooted,
\nHe said, “I’m well suited,”
\nAs he buttoned his Seville Row tweed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bruce Niedt:<\/p>\n

A salesman was trying to lead
\nHis date to a sexual deed.
\nBut when he unzipped
\nShe took one look and quipped,
\n\u201cSatisfaction is NOT guaranteed!\u201d\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Edmund Conti:<\/p>\n

A fellow was trying to lead
\nHis wife to the mens\u2019 room (Great need!)
\nSaid his wife, \u201cNot a chance!
\nWe\u2019re going to dance.\u201d
\nSo they danced on and on while he peed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

David Lefkovits: <\/p>\n

A fellow who wanted to lead
\nThe nation in turning from greed,
\nFound most in agreement,
\nWhen thinking that he meant
\nThe other guy’s greedy misdeed.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Phyllis Sterling Smith a\/k\/a Granny Smith: <\/p>\n

A fellow was trying to lead
\nHis small pup (newly bought, pedigreed).
\nThe son of a bitch
\nWould rather just ITCH
\nThan be led to the vet and deFLEAed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Phyllis adds this Limerick Note:<\/p>\n

In my rhyming I have this strange vanity
\nThat my jokes not depend on profanity.
\nThat small dog with the itch
\nWas the offspring of bitch.
\nTo rely on swear-words is insanity!\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
