It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. I’m very pleased to announce the winning Limerick of the Week and the Honorable Mentions:<\/p>\n

Congratulations to JOHANNA RICHMOND who wins Limerick of the Week for this clever two-verse limerick:<\/p>\n

A fellow was trying to hide
\nHis nature (mean, callous and snide),
\nBut it’s hard to shrug off
\nWith a wink and a scoff
\nWhat he did to his number two bride.<\/p>\n

So the newt did what Newt does so well:
\nTold his critics to all go to hell.
\nWith a blood-thirsty base,
\nBest grow fangs to save face.
\nCan you hear Willard Romney’s death knell?<\/p>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Jason Talbott<\/a>, Gordon Richmond, Scott Crowder, Brenda Bryant a\/k\/a Rinkly Rimes<\/a>, and Elaine Spall<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

A fellow was trying to hide
\nSome cash that he earned on the side
\nAs a writer of fiction.
\nHis craft caused conviction–
\nWhen he filled out his taxes, he lied.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Gordon Richmond:<\/p>\n

A fellow was trying to hide
\nHis “size” from the young, pretty bride,
\nBut soon she’d discover,
\nOnce under the cover,
\nShe’s in for a very short ride.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Scott Crowder: <\/p>\n

A woman was trying to hide
\nThe fact that her hair had been dyed.
\nBut the truth would come out
\nAnd leave not a doubt
\nWhen the gal wore a swim thong poolside.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Brenda Bryant a\/k\/a Rinkly Rimes:<\/p>\n

A fellow was trying to hide
\nFrom his overly amorous bride.
\nHe said \u201cWait a bit!
\nIt\u2019s time to admit
\nI got sea-sick the last time I tried!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Elaine Spall:<\/p>\n

A fellow was trying to hide
\nFrom six women, each claimed was his bride
\nWhen his half dozen wives
\nSet upon him with knives.
\n“Rest In Pieces” was scribed when he died.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
