And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same first line. Then you post your limerick here and, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/madkane\/posts\/306723636036568\">if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The best submission will be crowned Limerick Of The Week. (Here\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/humor_blog\/2012\/01\/15\/limerick-of-the-week-44\/\">last week\u2019s Limerick Of The Week Winner plus the Honorable Mentions<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, and cleverness. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, you can find some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/humor_blog\/limerick-and-haiku-seeds-and-prompts\/\">helpful resources listed here.<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll announce the Limerick of the Week Winner right before I post next week\u2019s Limerick-Off. So that gives you a full week to submit your clever, polished verse.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing a limerick with this first line:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A fellow was trying to hide&#8230;<strong>*<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>or<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A woman was trying to hide&#8230;<strong>*<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>*<\/strong>(Minor variations to my first lines are acceptable, but rhyme words may <strong>not<\/strong> be altered.)<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s my limerick:<\/p>\n<p>Hidden Limerick<br \/>\nBy Madeleine Begun Kane<\/p>\n<p>A fellow was trying to hide<br \/>\nThe fact that he&#8217;d patently lied<br \/>\nIn claiming to be<br \/>\nA chem Ph.D.,<br \/>\nWhen he never had even applied.<\/p>\n<p>Please feel free to write your own limerick using the same first line and post it in my comments.
