And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same first line. Then you post your limerick here and, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/madkane\/posts\/334136953276151\">if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The best submission will be crowned Limerick Of The Week. (Here\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/humor_blog\/2012\/01\/29\/limerick-of-the-week-46\/\">last week\u2019s Limerick Of The Week Winner plus the Honorable Mentions<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, and cleverness. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, you can find some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/humor_blog\/limerick-and-haiku-seeds-and-prompts\/\">helpful resources listed here.<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll announce the Limerick of the Week Winner right before I post next week\u2019s Limerick-Off. So that gives you a full week to submit your clever, polished verse.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing a limerick with this first line:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A fellow was trying to lead&#8230;<strong>*<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>or<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A woman was trying to lead&#8230;<strong>*<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>*<\/strong>(Minor variations to my first lines are acceptable, but rhyme words may <strong>not<\/strong> be altered.)<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s my limerick:<\/p>\n<p>Leading With Limericks<br \/>\nBy Madeleine Begun Kane<\/p>\n<p>A fellow was trying to lead,<br \/>\nBut his rumba was not up to speed.<br \/>\nHis steps got all tangled,<br \/>\nHis partner&#8217;s feet mangled.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m guessing that&#8217;s why he was kneed.<\/p>\n<p>Please feel free to write your own limerick using the same first line and post it in my comments.
