It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> But first…<\/p>\n

Twas the night before Christmas
\nAnd all through the house
\nNot a creature was stirring
\nExcept for my mouse.<\/p>\n

The Lim’rick-Off judging
\nCried out to be done
\nCuz participants longed
\nTo find out just who won.<\/p>\n

I’m very pleased to announce the winning Limerick of the Week and the Honorable Mentions:<\/p>\n

Congratulations to Byron Miller a\/k\/a Errol Nimbly who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

A young fellow was planning to back
\nWell away from the cougar\u2019s attack,
\nBut she managed a pin
\nWith a bottle of gin
\nAnd the weight of her double G rack.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Robert Schechter, Stephen Earp, Johanna Richmond, and Konrad Schwoerke. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Robert Schechter:<\/p>\n

A fellow was planning to back
\nThe bail-out of failed Fannie Mac.
\nBut then he said, \u201cWhy
\nShould those assholes, not I,
\nBe the ones who end up in the black?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Stephen Earp:<\/p>\n

A fellow was planning to back
\nHis hole cards of seven and jack.
\nBut flop, turn and river
\nAll failed to deliver
\nAnd cost him the rest of his stack.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Johanna Richmond: <\/p>\n

A woman was planning to back
\nAn employee she knew she should sack;
\nHis immense asset package
\nPrevented his sackage —
\nYou might say he slipped through the crack.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Konrad Schwoerke:<\/p>\n

A fellow was planning to back
\nAn irrational war in Iraq,
\nBut his partner requested:
\n\u201cRethink this when rested,
\nAnd further \u2014 quit smoking that crack!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
