Undecorated (Haiku and Tanka)

Blank slate office walls —
Decorate? No one tempted —
temporary work.

Nakedly ringless,
undecorated fingers
robbed of wedding bling.
Married still, but ringed no more.
Replaceable … and yet not.

For some reason my comments wouldn’t post here this week, I tried more than once. Maybe this time!

I could easily relate to the Haiku having gone thru many changes and moves in my life and sometimes knowing at the onset not to make much of an effort in settling in, that it wasn’t going to last for long.

The tanka was intriguing, leaves me wanting to know if the absence of ring is by accident or choice. I think there is more to this tale waiting to be told! :-)

Thanks JTS! I’m so glad you were able to post this time.

As for the tanka, you’re right — it’s a much larger personal story which I told many years ago in a NY Newsday op ed column. It’s not on my current computer or site. One of the days I have to find my Newsday tear sheet and get it onto my computer and site. :)
