Dental Verse (Limerick & Haiku Prompt)

A limerick and a haiku (senryu) with teeth today.  First, my limerick:

I think I’m becoming unglued —
Not my mind, but a cap caught on food.
But I can’t blame the guy
Who implanted it.  Why?
I forgot to get perm-glued — not shrewd!

And now my haiku (senryu):

The left and the right
May mouth off at each other,
But both hate dentists.

Now, of course, it’s your turn. Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to write some verse about dentists and/or teeth. When you’ve posted your poem(s), please return here and add a direct link to your themed poetry, using Mr. Linky.  And please post a comment as well.

  2. “Down In The Mouth” (haiku)

    when my dentist gets
depressed, the mouth he likes to
    look down in is mine…

  3. Alan Summers says:

    (senryu)

    dental check
    my bank statement too
    has a hole in it

Ok, I dashed off a limerick before work; guess I’ll have to add the haiku later.

  11. sister AE says:

Thanks for the e-mail! I was hoping for a limerick with more bite (pun intended) but at least the one I came up with is topical. Maybe another will present itself to me later. If so I’ll let you know.

  12. USpace says:

I’ll try to work on a limerick, but here’s a senryu:

    with cavities
    you must get novocain
    – but gas makes it fun
    .

  13. USpace says:

Thanks for the excellent prompt; here’s my second Limerick ever:

While sitting in the dentist’s chair,
    It just seemed so very unfair;
The doctor had no more gas,
So time would not easily pass,
And this gave me quite a big scare.

  14. Val says:

    Dentists+pain+ too much money=unhappy person

  15. Ben Cousins says:

‘Lack of business was causing me grief’
    My dentist explained with relief
‘I canned my ad which had read:
“Got a pain in your head?
Fixed as easy as pulling teef!”’

  16. Holly says:

    *sigh* I <3 Haiku! :)

  17. Unsay Moon says:

I really enjoyed this prompt. Here are my contributions:

Once when I wanted for money
    I mistook for a dentist a dummy
    He made my grin wider
    But left my incisors
And now I just look like a bunny.

    And:

    I slowly drift off
    Calm and peaceful, dreaming deep
    Then he starts the drill.
