Quick Story & Other Verse (Limerick & Haiku Prompt)
Today’s limerick, haiku, and senryu theme is furniture and furnishings. First, my limerick:
Quick Story

“Quick story,” my husband declares.
“It’s short — I’m not kidding,” he swears.
But I know that he’s wrong.
He’ll be witty, but long.
How I wish I could find us some chairs.
And now two haiku (senryu):
Dad climbs into bed.
His poodle growls in protest.
Their turf war begins.
Sixty-year-old chair,
still covered in plastic,
protected from life.
Now, of course, it’s your turn. Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to write some verse about furniture and furnishings. Thanks for sharing the poodle haiku with us at One Single Impression. I have seen such turf battles delightfully lost night after night in my own life in rooms above those full of furniture protected from life. I suppose the desire for such safety is pretty common!

I’ve taken the liberty of posting a link to a free verse poem of mine about a couch, that I posted to my blog a while ago since it fits the prompt.
Your “turf war” piece brings back lots of memories. But for me it was a “war” between my two cats as to which one got to sleep where or on me in bed. :-)

I really enjoyed your “Quick Story” limerick.
I don’t dare start writing limericks, as fun as it seems. I already think in haiku; limericks would be more difficult to get out of my head. :P
